So the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is coming out on Valentine’s Day 2015 and they just released the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer. I know you want to watch it (or watch it again), so take a look and I’ll meet you below…

So what did you think?

50 Shades of Grey Entertainment Weekly CoverI’m probably one of the few women who hasn’t read the book yet, but the trailer is already causing a stir as women across the world fight over whether they chose the right actor (Jamie Dornan) to play the role of Christian Grey. I don’t think he’s a bad choice, but it would be interesting to see who got turned down for the role! Personally I favor Matt Bomer’s chiseled features for the role, but there we go.

Hopefully he has great charisma and the chemistry between him and Dakota Johnson, who plays the role of Anastasia Steele, will light up the screen. It will be interesting to see how they can turn such a raunchy story into a film without it just being a porn flick…

But what’s really fascinating is that social media is going wild over Fifty Shades of Grey. #50ShadesofGreyTrailer is trending on Twitter and all over social media. The trailer video is being posted and shared all over social media – so as one person tweeted “Don’t put “in case you haven’t seen it”, we’ve all seen it!”

From what I’ve heard, women are swooning over the book’s main character, Christian Grey, and wishing they could be Anastasia. I have to say the trailer was a little restrained compared to what I was expecting, but we’ll have to wait until February 14, 2015 to see if the movie lives up to expectations. By then, women around the country will be in a frenzy and I can imagine groups of women booking out entire movie theaters so they can all go and see the movie together.

In the meantime, you can guarantee that social media will be sizzling with expectation and predictions over the coming months. Universal Studios won’t really have to do a single thing to promote the movie online, fans of the book will do it for them. It’s the ideal melting pot – hot actors, a hot story line and an established base of raving fans. Speculation will be rampant. Just watch as 50 Shades of Grey continues to trend over the coming months, peaking at the launch of the movie and in the days after. The tweets sent from the first showing of the movie when it launches will be critical in determining whether the Fifty Shades of Grey movie will be a box office success or a bust (pun intended).

Have you seen the 50 Shades of Grey trailer? Did it live up to your expectations or did you feel it was a let-down?
