Using #NationalAvocadoDay to Promote Your Practice

Today is #NationalAvocadoDay.

But to be honest…EVERY day is national Avocado Day in our house.

I love them in or on just about anything (I even saw a recipe for a “healthy” chocolate avocado mousse made that I’m dying to try!)

It seems that almost every day or month is National “something or other”. Social media comes alive with photos, hashtags, recipes and strong opinions – for and against the particular food of the day. So love them or hate them, National Food Days are here to stay.

Why not make the most of them to promote your practice?

Here are some practical ways you can embrace the next celebration:

Do a survey or poll – ask your social media audience whether they love or hate that food. The results are sure to be interesting!
Write a blog post, create a video or go on Facebook Live to talk about the food of the day and explain their health benefits in a way that’s relevant to how you serve your patients. Share a little about where that food comes from – most people have no idea!
Share your favorite recipes with your patients and clients: you can use Facebook Live to share a quick video, or a recipe infographic on social media. Show them different ways they can use that food in hot or cold dishes, or even smoothies etc. Try something unique and unexpected that will grab their attention…perhaps a vegan chocolate cake made with avocado? (see below)
Make a video of you making your favorite recipe in your kitchen – give away a free grocery list so they can try it too
Make it an event! Plan ahead and prepare recipes for that day to give away to your patients and clients or plan an in-house cooking event and invite your patients to join in and learn some new recipes
Ask your social media followers for their favorite recipe and share the healthiest ones on your social media – remember to thank them and tag them in your post!
