Building Your Social Media Fans & Followers

There is nothing like a special event to help you build your fans and followers on social media!  Whether it’s your birthday, a national holiday or an event you have organized, events are a great way to connect with new and old fans and followers.  These are times when you get to interact with many friends and followers on one day.  They may contact you to wish you a happy day or wish you luck on an event you are holding and vice versa.

Take your birthday for example:  it may only happen once a year, but think of all those friends who have connected with you to send you good wishes on your special day.  They are connecting with you in a meaningful way and it’s a great opportunity to strengthen the friendship you have with them.  Send them a message or post on their wall and thank them for their kind wishes.  If you have a fanpage or Twitter account, why not invite them over to your other pages so they can get to know you?

The same goes for other events and holidays throughout the year.  Always remember to wish your friends and fans a Happy Birthday or Happy Holiday – nothing says you care like a message on a special day!  And they will remember that you took the time and effort to do so.

Remember – using social media in a meaningful and productive way means building those relationships one at a time and really taking an interest in people!

With that said – thanks too everyone who has wished me a Happy Birthday today!  You all made my day very special!
