Business experts around the world predict that businesses that are not marketing and engaging their clients using social media will not have a business in 5 years! Global social media strategist, Charlyn Shelton calls it ‘the worlds’ largest trade show’ and you have an opportunity for a million dollar piece of real estate when you understand how to use it correctly.

Social media changes as often as the weather and keeping up is overwhelming! There just isn’t enough time in the day! Businesses large and small continue to be confused about how to best harness the powerful machine of marketing on social media!

There is a HUGE difference between information and insight! Information is stats, data, trends, etc while insight is ‘paradigm shifting’ strategies will causes change. Business owners today know they need social media for marketing, but think they don’t have the time, or they delegate it to some ’20-something’ that has never owned a business! The Social Media Visionaries are all entrepreneurs that understand time is money, and take the guess work out of social media for you!

Have you ever said to yourself “Why can’t someone just give me the step-by-step strategies that REALLY work?” The good news is, Social Media Visionaries heard you! The barriers will be broken, the confusion will be cleared up!

Tampa is honored to have The Power of 6 – THE leading team of social media experts; and they are coming to Tampa, all the way from Toronto to San Francisco on Nov 1-2, 2014. They are masters in their field of expertise, not a ‘jack of all trades’.

This team of experts will be giving you ‘insider techniques’ to grow your business on Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Youtube. Winning business owners make their plans for 2015 now! You’ll be ahead of the game! For a minimal investment of $97.00 for Saturday, you will receive:

  • WHAT IS YOUR ROR? You’ll learn that!
  • HOW CAN YOU BE THE NEXT NBC? You’ll learn that!
  • NEVER WANT TO MAKE A COLD CALL AGAIN? You’ll learn that!
  • WHERE ARE THE GOLDEN EGGS HIDDEN? You’ll learn that!
  • HOW DO I MAKE FACEBOOK MARKETING WORK? You’ll learn that!
  • WHAT ARE THE 5 BUCKETS OF SUCCESS? You’ll learn that!
  • QUIT GOING IN CIRCLES AND USE GOOGLE+ You’ll learn that!

We all know when attending such an outstanding conference there are really TWO opportunities, one is the learning and two is the networking with 100 other brilliant professional business owners. The icing on the cake….lunch is included too!

Oh and by the way, what happens if you don’t attend and your competition does?

So the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is coming out on Valentine’s Day 2015 and they just released the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer. I know you want to watch it (or watch it again), so take a look and I’ll meet you below…

So what did you think?

50 Shades of Grey Entertainment Weekly CoverI’m probably one of the few women who hasn’t read the book yet, but the trailer is already causing a stir as women across the world fight over whether they chose the right actor (Jamie Dornan) to play the role of Christian Grey. I don’t think he’s a bad choice, but it would be interesting to see who got turned down for the role! Personally I favor Matt Bomer’s chiseled features for the role, but there we go.

Hopefully he has great charisma and the chemistry between him and Dakota Johnson, who plays the role of Anastasia Steele, will light up the screen. It will be interesting to see how they can turn such a raunchy story into a film without it just being a porn flick…

But what’s really fascinating is that social media is going wild over Fifty Shades of Grey. #50ShadesofGreyTrailer is trending on Twitter and all over social media. The trailer video is being posted and shared all over social media – so as one person tweeted “Don’t put “in case you haven’t seen it”, we’ve all seen it!”

Check out the stream of Tweets about #50ShadesofGreyTrailer!

From what I’ve heard, women are swooning over the book’s main character, Christian Grey, and wishing they could be Anastasia. I have to say the trailer was a little restrained compared to what I was expecting, but we’ll have to wait until February 14, 2015 to see if the movie lives up to expectations. By then, women around the country will be in a frenzy and I can imagine groups of women booking out entire movie theaters so they can all go and see the movie together.

In the meantime, you can guarantee that social media will be sizzling with expectation and predictions over the coming months. Universal Studios won’t really have to do a single thing to promote the movie online, fans of the book will do it for them. It’s the ideal melting pot – hot actors, a hot story line and an established base of raving fans. Speculation will be rampant. Just watch as 50 Shades of Grey continues to trend over the coming months, peaking at the launch of the movie and in the days after. The tweets sent from the first showing of the movie when it launches will be critical in determining whether the Fifty Shades of Grey movie will be a box office success or a bust (pun intended).

Have you seen the 50 Shades of Grey trailer? Did it live up to your expectations or did you feel it was a let-down?

Facebook-Photo-ViewerKeep reading for a Top Tip on how to use Facebook photos as sales tools!

People have been asking me “Why am I seeing a black frame around photos when I click to view them?”

This frame is the new Facebook photo viewer, which allows you to see and comment on the full-size photos without losing your place on Facebook.

For example, if you see a friend’s photo in your News Feed and click on it, it will open at full-size in the photo viewer. You can easily browse through other photos in the same album using the viewer, and when you close the viewer, you’ll be in the same place in your News Feed.

Here’s how to use the viewer:

1. Click any photo in your News Feed, on your profile, or elsewhere on Facebook.

2. When the window opens you’ll see your photo full-size, against a black frame. You can like or comment on the photo at the bottom of the screen.

Facebook_Photo-Viewer2

3.  To see the next photo in the album, you can either: click the photo you’re viewing, click the right or left arrow buttons outside the photo, or use the right or left arrow keys on your keyboard.

4.  To close the photo viewer, click the “X” at the top right corner or press the Escape key.

If you don’t like the new photo viewer…

Do you wish you could just see the photos on the page the way it used to be?

You can!  When you are viewing a photo in the photo viewer, click on F5 and you will be taken to the page where the photo is located.  You can then navigate through the photos as usual (click Previous, Next, Back to Album etc).

Tagged?

Did someone tag you in a photo that you’re not in or don’t like?  You can untag yourself  by viewing the photo and clicking the “Remove Tag” link next to your name. The photo will no longer be linked to your profile.

Top Tip:  Include a Call to Action in the image you upload or in the description.  Create an image with text giving your latest special offer, discount, free report etc.  Include a link to your website in the photo description.  Use the photo as a sales tool – it’s like getting a free Facebook ad!

With the abundance of information on Facebook, sometimes it’s hard to find the particular post you are looking for, especially if it’s a post you saw before and want to find again!  Facebook Pages and Groups are a great resource for information on a topic, but how do you navigate all the posts to find the information you need?

How to Search on Facebook Groups
The easiest way to search a Group for information is the Search box.  Facebook Groups have a built in Search box in the top right corner:

How-to-search-Facebook-Groups

Facebook Freshmen – Join the group to get more fans to your Facebook Page!

To search for a conversation around particular subject or topic in a Facebook Group, simply type the search term in the box at the top and click on the “magnifying glass” icon to the right of the search term you typed in.  All the posts containing the search term will then appear for you to explore.

Remember also that Facebook Groups have uploaded Docs listed on the right side of the Group page – you might find useful information there too!

How to Search Facebook Pages

Of course you can explore the menu on the left side of the page to view Photos (and videos); Notes (longer posts by Page) and Discussions, plus any extra tabs the Page has, such as Reviews, imported blog posts, YouTube videos, Twitter stream etc.

Unfortunately Facebook Pages don’t have the Search box that appears in Facebook Groups, so there is no direct way to search a Facebook Page for content on a particular topic.  However, there is an indirect way to search your favorite Facebook Page for posts through Google.

To find status updates and posts on a topic, go to Google.com and type in the following:

site:http://(link to Facebook page) “search term you are looking for”

Sample Search:  The Social Networker Daily

For example, here’s a search on my Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/DrRachelHaviland/) for the name of my daily Social Media publication “The Social Networker Daily”:

In Google I typed in:

site:https://www.facebook.com/DrRachelHaviland/ “The Social Networker Daily”

Here are the results:

Social-Networker-Daily

Read The Social Networker Daily for up to date Social Media news

From here you can click on the links to view the posts related to your search term.

Many people decide that they don’t want to use their Facebook personal profile to connect with potential clients, business partners and professional connections. With all the fears over privacy settings on Facebook and people getting fired over comments they made online, it’s understandable.

My opinion?

The easiest way to successfully promote your business using social media is to connect with people through your personal profile!

There, I’ve said it. Not what you wanted to hear right?

But here’s why I say that:

• People want to work with people they know, like and trust: Being friends with you on Facebook is the fastest way to do that.

• Building your ‘Likes’ for your business Page on Facebook is much easier when you have a solid target market network on your personal profile.

• Converting those friends to clients and money in your pocket is faster and simpler when those people have got to know you a little.

WARNING: Do not create a second Facebook personal profile so you can keep things separate! According to Facebook Terms of Service, you are only allowed one account.

Building A Professional Presence Online
We all know that we need to have a professional presence on Facebook, and that you should only be promoting your business through your business Page (AKA ‘Like’ Page). (You do know that right??). If you don’t already have a large email list of current and past clients or friends on your personal profile to send to your Facebook business Page, then how are you going to find potential new leads and clients for your business?

You’re going to pay for it!

Whether you use Facebook ads or Google pay per click, you will have to advertize in some way in order to generate traffic to your business Page.

By refusing to connect with people other than close friends and family on Facebook, you are missing the point of social media i.e. the word “social”. Social media is all about interaction, sharing and building relationships through that.

I think that a lot of fears are generated by the media and news stories, together with a lack of knowledge of the Facebook tools you can use to control your account. You can protect your account by knowing how to use the Facebook Privacy settings correctly and using Friend Lists to control who sees what you post.

Take a leaf out of the Big Boy’s book and combine your online social media marketing with your offline marketing.

Social media doesn’t have to be – and shouldn’t be – separate from your traditional, offline marketing efforts. When you combine the two, you achieve synergistic results!

Synergy:
— n , pl -gies
1. Also called: synergism: the potential ability of individual parts to be more successful or productive when merged together

i.e. More bang for your buck! And isn’t that what we all want?

Food for thought: Here’s a photo I took of the Carnival Cruiselines ad on my TV. Top companies are using TV ads to send their Facebook page – not their website. Shouldn’t you do the same?

Add your social media profile links to business cards, brochures, flyers and even TV ads and watch your social media marketing explode!

Let’s Get Social!

Ever wondered how people tag their friends in a Status Update on Facebook?

Tag-a-friend

For example, I tagged Natasha in the above post.  It’s really simple!  Here’s how:

Step 1: When you are typing your Status Update (it won’t work in a comment), place the cursor at the position in the sentence where you want to add the person’s name.

Step 2: Type an @ symbol

Step 3: Then start typing the firstname of the person you want to insert into the sentence

Step 4: A drop-down menu should automatically appear with a list of your friends with the same firstname.  Select the correct person from the list and the link will appear in your post.

Step 5: Keep typing and finish your sentence, then click “Share”.

Simple!

The status update will appear on your wall, with a clickable link to your friend’s profile. Note: you can’t tag someone who isn’t a friend.  The person you tag will also be informed by Facebook that you tagged them in an update.

But now that you know how to do it, please don’t abuse the tagging feature!  Tagging in this way is great to give someone a compliment or to share something you really think they will be interested in e.g. something you have both been working on.  Don’t use the tagging feature just to get someone’s attention, especially if they are a new friend or you haven’t developed the relationship very far, or it will look like you are spamming them.
